Personal Reflection

As a southern girl raised in Estill, South Carolina, and a proud product of the South Carolina school district, I carry with me the high morals, values, and deep dedication to building a better community that were instilled in me from a young age. Transitioning from a southern upbringing to city life was challenging, yet it fueled my passion for making a positive impact. This journey has taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. My experiences in various roles—from court administrator to case manager at a homeless shelter—have reinforced the belief that effective public service requires a deep understanding of the communities we serve, as well as a commitment to ethical leadership and transparent governance. These lessons have shaped my approach to public administration, where I strive to foster equitable and effective policies that address real-world issues.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to understanding the intricacies of public governance and the reasons behind governmental failures. This pursuit has been driven by a desire to develop solutions that enhance the effectiveness and accountability of our institutions. My work in public administration, particularly in advocating for gender equity and addressing gaps in domestic violence laws, reflects a commitment to creating a more just and efficient society. Looking ahead, my aspiration to pursue a doctorate degree focused on the question, "Why do governments fail?" underscores my dedication to this mission. By combining my practical experiences with academic research, I aim to contribute to the betterment of society, ensuring that our public institutions serve all individuals with fairness and integrity.
